AS a technology coach and science teacher, I have sixteen years of classroom experience teaching a variety of subjects including science, theater, and computer literacy, as well as seven years experience as site technology specialist and one year as the regional technology trainer for Central Utah Education Services (CUES).

I earned my bachelor's degree in Geology from Utah State University and master's degree in Geoscience, with an emphasis in educational applications, from Mississippi State University. Along with my background in science research, I have always had an interest in technology development and integration in the classroom.

In my adventurous search for more understanding and learning, I have been a part of the NOAA Teacher-At-Sea Program and worked along scientists gathering hydrographic survey data on NOAA’s ship Fairweather off the coast of Alaska. I  also completed my graduate work on the Bahamian island, San Salvador, studying wind cave formation. Additionally, I was selected to be a GSA Geocorps America Intern and worked one summer as a Geo-information Specialist for the National Forest Service. I attended an Earth Science teacher leadership academy in Houston, Texas hosted by AGI/ExxonMobil, a week long program in Greenbelt, Maryland at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center as a MAVEN Educator Ambassador, and most recently, was selected as a Hope Street Group Utah Teacher Fellow as well as an Educator Advisor for WGBH/NASA’s “Bringing the Universe to America’s Classrooms” program.

My passions include finding rocks, looking at rocks, and hiking large rocks to get more rocks. Besides that, I love to sing and play the baritone ukulele, raise weird breeds of animals, and hang out on our 20 acres with my awesome husband- who just happens to be a diesel technology instructor. Teaching ROCKS!

My opinions, tweets, and blog posts are my own and do not necessarily reflect the views of the organizations I am associated with.
